Jeanne became interested in college access work while serving as a parent volunteer in the Columbus Public Schools, Columbus, Ohio.  She was a 25-year advocate for the children of Columbus, serving on school reform panels, a high-school shared decision-making cabinet, and the superintendent’s advisory committee, along with serving in many capacities in the Parent Teacher Association.

When the college access program, I Know I Can organized in 1988, Jeanne began volunteering as a daytime advisor for two days a week, at one of the CPS high schools, doing college admission and financial aid advising.  She remained with IKIC until 2006, serving both as a volunteer and later as an employee, as assistant and then associate director of the program office.  In 2006, Jeanne and her husband moved to Springfield.  Jeanne was excited to learn that Access Springfield Promise was organizing, and quickly offered to volunteer.  She has had a long-time commitment to helping to make college accessible to young people who don’t believe it is possible.  She is serving as financial aid advisor at the SPS Safe high schools.
